Mallory Kretman, CFP®
Wealth Manager / Client Service Manager
“I was drawn to Laurel Wealth Planning because of our emphasis on the importance of each client. I love being part of an environment that truly values the relationships we are building and a commitment to results.”
Mallory serves our clients in a Wealth Manager role, focusing on meeting our clients’ goals through financial planning and investment advice. She also manages our client service personnel, working closely with Laura and the team to create the close relationships Laurel Wealth Planning is known for.
Mallory earned her Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) credential in 2018 and her Series 65 license (which licenses a professional to give investment advice) in 2015. She began her career in financial planning in 2011 when she joined Laurel Wealth Planning. Mallory earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, graduating with high honors. While at college, she was invited to membership in the Golden Key National Honor Society, National Scholars Honor Society, and Eta Phi Alpha Honors Fraternity. Mallory was also responsible for paying her own college tuition and living costs by working many hours at a retail clothing store.
Although Mallory is in her early 30’s, many of our clients have commented on her wisdom and maturity. Raised by a single father, Mallory in her mid-twenties was devastated to find out he had terminal cancer. With a younger sister still in high school, Mallory moved home to look after her father and sister, managing as the point of contact with hospice, assisting with his care and being with him as he passed. She and her siblings coordinated his funeral and she remained at home for several more months to support her sister. A few years later, her grandmother required nursing home care. Again, the family turned to Mallory. She became the main point of contact with the nursing home, organizing her grandmother’s financial matters and making sure she was comfortable until her passing. Mallory credits both of these experiences for her strength and wisdom.
Mallory loves to read books ranging from historical fiction to the Harry Potter series to authors of the 1920s. She is also a self-proclaimed “wine enthusiast” and has toured vineyards in the Loire Valley and the Champagne region of France. Mallory also enjoys “the little things” in life, like a strong cup of coffee and spending quiet nights at home with her husband, Hank, and their yellow lab, Penny.
Speaker, “Client Financial Well-Being Post-Divorce,” March 2019. Featured speaker at the annual Family Law Institute. Mallory provided expert financial planning information on post-divorce planning checklists and resources to family attorneys and other family law experts.
